Supported MCAD Tools
A built-in panel, displayed in Altium Designer and your mechanical CAD,
allows engineers to push and pull changes with a mouse click. No manual
conversion or exchange of files is required.
Key Capabilities
Bi-directional ECAD-MCAD Design Collaboration
Share design revisions with your electrical team to ensure the board fits right the first time.
Keep your mechanical constraints a priority throughout the collaboration process.
Avoid error-prone file exchange between tools: quickly push and pull changes between Altium Designer and your mechanical CAD.
Advanced Copper Geometry in MCAD
Get all the data needed to perform detailed mechanical checks or FEA with advanced geometry support for extruded copper and via transfers.
WIth Altium MCAD CoDesigner the copper geometry is readable in MCAD and you can perform thermal, vibration, and other mechanical analyses.
EMCAD-ECAD Enclosure Exchange
Send an enclosure from MCAD to ECAD seamlessly. PCBs often contain restrictions based on the mechanical enclosure, MCAD CoDesigner makes it easy to transfer a 3D enclosure model from your MCAD to Altium Designer.
Advanced History
The Altium MCAD CoDesigner panel displays the full history of accepted and rejected changes from both the electrical and mechanical sides. As soon as changes are applied or rejected by the electrical engineer, you will see a notification in your MCAD application.
Start Collaborating
In ECAD, the Electrical Engineer should open a *.PCBdoc, activate the MCAD CoDesigner panel, and click Push.
On the MCAD side, download the latest version of the plugin for your MCAD tool, install and activate it in MCAD, and click Pull.
